| GearUp Fund :: Become a Neighborhood Hero |  |
Five newly renovated Recreation Centers are being opened in neighborhoods around San Francisco to provide activities ranging from organized sports and exercise, to arts and after-school programs. These centers will serve all ages, from tots to seniors. However, city-wide budget cuts have impeded the Recreation and Park Department’s ability to fully outfit these facilities with the furnishings and equipment necessary to begin delivering these programs. As a long-time RPD partner with an almost 40-year history of supporting parks, San Francisco Parks Trust has established the GearUp Fund to fill this funding gap.
Recreation Centers provide fun, healthy, and constructive activities within their neighborhoods, helping build community with free recreational opportunities that can not be found elsewhere. Help these Recreation Centers get in gear today, and become a neighborhood hero.
UPDATE: May 2010
With your help, to date the GearUp Fund has provided $130,000 to recreation centers to meet furniture, equipment, and supply needs. Read the press release here.
