Includes seismic and access upgrades; restored walls and finishes, new roof, and copper cresting to match the historic features; accessible restrooms, landscaping and lighting. The original ceiling and arched wood trusses were preserved along with the central two-story octagon shape.
History
The Conservatory was built c. 1898 by William Augustus Merralls. Over time, the Conservatory passed from private to public hands, and despite its City Landmark status ended up a wooden shell—bereft of its windows, east wing, and accompanying observatory.
Programming
This unique RPD park will primarily be used for community special events, and rented for private events such as weddings.
