Koret Children's Quarter in Golden Gate Park :: Another successful capital improvement!
The Koret Children’s Quarter in Golden Gate Park reopened in 2007 to rave reviews from children, parents, and park lovers. The improvements have reinvigorated the existing playground into a regional attraction with park elements designed to excite the imagination of children.
The purpose of the renovation was to bring Koret Children’s Quarter into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the State of California’s Code of Regulations (Title 22, Division 4, Chapter 22) Safety Regulations for Playgrounds. In addition, this renovation has created a safe, imaginative and adventurous place for all children to play. The last renovation of the playground was in 1977.
This project was a partnership between the Recreation and Park Department, San Francisco Parks Trust, and the Koret Foundation, which gave $1.8 million toward the renovation of the playground.
