2010 Update: Construction is Just Around the Corner!

Friends of Presidio Heights Playground is excited to announce that playground construction is about to start! Our targeted groundbreaking date is March. We are excited that this neighborhood project is coming to fruition, and we hope that you will enjoy using the beautiful new space. We feel that it will have something to offer everyone.

As we process the final construction details, it is not too late to be part of this renovation! We are still fundraising for the project, and with your help, we are closer to meeting our final goal. There are several ways to participate, including the purchase of a brick or paver in the picnic grove, or plaque recognition. Your gift is an excellent way not only to leave a legacy for your family, but also to enhance the resources and beauty of a neighborhood gem for generations to come. A pledge sheet is available here. Friends of Presidio Heights Playground is a Park Partner of San Francisco Parks Trust and all donations are fully tax-deductible. Together, we can make our park a safe, fun, and relaxing place for our community to enjoy.

We are so grateful for how the community has embraced this project and offered strong support, even in challenging times. We thank our donors for their help every step of the way!

About Friends of Presidio Heights Playground

Friends of Presidio Heights Playground is a group of volunteers and private donors dedicated to the renovation of Presidio Heights Playground. The Playground is an historic San Francisco neighborhood park located on Clay Street between Walnut and Laurel Streets. It sits in a quiet residential area and is surrounded by two condominium buildings. The Playground is used by San Francisco residents of all ages including infants and toddlers with their caregivers; preschoolers affiliated with nearby schools; elementary school children through a city-sponsored latch-key program; and adult basketball players and sport court users. Currently, the playground has limited greenery, outdated and non-code compliant play structures and an inefficient use of space. We have spent three years gathering community input, working closely with San Francisco's Recreation and Park Department and developing a detailed, city-approved plan. Park improvements will include: new state-of-the-art equipment, more green space and landscaping, a tree house, a nature nook, a picnic table grove, a new basketball court and new seating throughout.
