FRIENDS OF HUNTINGTON PARK

About Huntington Park
In 1915, Mrs. Huntington donated the land to the City of San Francisco to remain in perpetuity as a park for all the people of the City to enjoy. Originally the main focal point was a sandbox, as the park was more specifically intended for the use of women and children. Currently, Huntington Park Playground is over 30 years old and offers little play value to children and fails to meet current safety standards.

Friends of Huntington Park
Late last year, we organized a group of concerned individuals interested in developing a plan to improve the play area, and raise the funds necessary to undertake the construction. We hired a renowned playground designer to create a plan which incorporates the latest innovations in playground design and meets the strict safety codes now in place to protect children.

Our Goal
Our mission is to create a safe children’s playground in Huntington Park for neighborhood families and San Francisco visitors. The new playground will contain state of the art equipment, sanitary rubber matting play surfaces, and access for the disabled. The new playground will contain play features for toddlers, pre-school and school age.
